In complex times, we have been given the opportunity– no, the gift of simplicity.
With chaos swirling outside our doors, although some are beginning to venture out, inside our homes, we are “getting back to basics.” Countless people working at home, including myself, are not running from place to place, and suddenly find themselves baking, reading, gardening, writing, being careful not to waste food or household products and so much more.
And it feels good.
How do we hold on to this? How do we not go back to “the way it was”? I fear that as the outside world opens up more, that we will fall back into old habits and forget the lessons learned while we were “growing inside.”
I, for one, have begun verbalizing to friends and colleagues some of my major takeaways, to declare them out loud in order to hold myself accountable. Perhaps think of doing the same– write down what you have learned during these times, the changes you want to make, and then share them with others.
May we all emerge from this as better people, committed to making a better world.
